Hello Phillips Brewery

-

I’m Jonathan, a graphic designer, artist and brewficianado.

I’ve had the good fortune to live and work in Victoria, BC for the past six years where I run a small agency comprised of myself and the occasional contractor. Specializing in marketing, campaign strategy, branding, graphic design, you name it - for small to mid-sized businesses. I love being a part of their team and supporting them in making a meaningful connection with their communities.

Like many designers, I’m trained in things like the Adobe Creative Suite, Content Management Systems, and Video/Motion Design. Unlike most designers though, I’m also at home in project management - juggling stakeholders and tasks across multiple projects, and clients. I’ve gotten good at prioritizing, triage and coordination.

Why would I want to work with Phillips?

I’m lucky.

I’ve worked many jobs doing things I wasn’t always passionate about. That’s life, and I appreciated those opportunities and experiences. They’ve made me a more well-rounded person and a better designer today. But it also means I’m now fortunate enough to have the luxury of being able to only pursue causes that I am passionate about, and that can have a positive impact in the community. I applied to Phillips when I first moved here - because who wouldn’t want to work at a brewery. Now though, after years in Victoria I see the good work that Phillips accomplishes within our community, and I want to be a part of that positive change in our little corner of BC. I still like beer of course, and it’s hard to beat a cold Megalodon. My clients help our communities, by affording me the stability to help those who are deserving but otherwise can’t afford professional design help.

My guiding principle is to help those who do good, do better.

DATUM was founded out of the belief that good work and good messages should be shared. My design “datum” or ethos, is always the desire to help those in our community that are doing good things. This principle guides the way projects are approached, accepted and undertaken. Compelled to Be Good - I am dedicated to using my expertise to support those who feel the same.

Most recently, that took the form of a pro-bono landing page website and video for:

Michael Tighe
Managing Partner - Solid

“Jonathan cares deeply about the work that he does, listens and digests all the information on a project, and takes critique very well. He is an extremely mature design professional who brings a great deal of life and energy to the projects he works on.”

Your Instagram post mentioned you’re needing a designer to take the beautiful and sublime artwork of your resident Rembrandt and help that art become a part of the product marketing. Your post indicated Part-Time, and that works for me. I am happy to do a trial project or two with you if interested, and we can go from there.

All of my experience as a production designer leads me to believe I am a great candidate for your challenge.

Reach out, I’d love to come say hello (I’m there often enough anyways, this gives me a better excuse) and to pick your brain about how I may be of service!
Be good,

Jonathan
